Analysis of Common Torodial Transformer Question (3)
Toroidal transformer are popular application in different field, here let’s discuss details more:
Q1: If the toroidal isolation transformer could play as a filtering?
A: Can't. The function of transformer is to convert the voltage & the AC current, it can't play as a filtering. Generally, when a transformer is rectified, an electrolytic capacitor will be added to form a rectification filter pattern to convert the rectified current into a completely smooth DC current.
Q2: Whats the mark information 50HZ /60Hz on the transformer refer to?
A: The 50Hz /60Hz marks on a transformer, means that the transformer vibrate with the current within one second is 50 times / 60 times. Usually, the transformer could be used among 50Hz~60Hz universally.
Q3: If the toroidal transformer can be tested under no loading?
A: Yes. The aiming of transformer no-load test is to verify:
1. Whether there is fail connection or short circuit & transformer can work normally?
2. Whether the transformer no-load current & no-load loss within the nominal range, and meet application requirements?
3. Whether the no-load input& output voltage value matches the rated voltage value?
Q4: How to estimated the toroidal isolation transformer's power?
A: The power could be estimated by transformer's OD & H & volume, and could be estimated based on finished weight. However, it's not accurate. To precise the transformer's power, we need to know transformer's details including voltage & current, etc.
Q5: What is "isolation" meaning for a isolation transformer?
A: Toroidal transformer without common wire, the input leads and output leads are independent, that means they are isolated from each other. It's different from an auto-transformer, and more safer to use.
Q6. Could the toroidal transformer be loaded immediately?
A: To prolonging the transformer lifespan, it's better to no-load first, and then connected to the load.
Q7: If the toroidal transformer can be energized without a load?
A: Yes, no-load is supported. And the aiming of no-load is to test no-load voltage, no-load current and no-load loss of the transformer.
Q8: What will happen if the toroidal transformer secondary short circuit?
A: Transformer will be burned and broken. To protect transformer safe, we suggest transformer with short-circuit protection device, once transformer output is short-circuited, the short-circuit protector can automatically cut off the power.
Q9: For a toroidal transformer, what is the difference of inrush current under no-load and under load condition?
A: It is not easy to cause magnetic flux saturation when closing with load. Transformer no-load with bigger inrush current than that with load.
Q10: What will happen if a 12V toroidal transformer current too large?
A:Transformer will be burnt out once the current is too large.
